July Hot and Steamy

Is it end of July already? Well with my personal life settling down somewhat, I have amazing plans for the end of Summer and early Fall sewing schedule. With such a beautiful Sewing Studio, it seems only right to use it much, much more, and I invite you to join me. The emphasis is on Sewing Coaching and yet several requests for classes are among the ideas for new Sessions. Right now I am enthralled with Ce Podolak’s Classic patterns. Completed the Classic fitted pant and now the shirt and shirtdress. Cecelia is a good friend who taught frequently at my shop. She teaches and lives in Burnaby BC and designs the most detailed pattern for the not so faint of heart. Full of tips, like using fusible web to position and hold cuff and collar areas before topstitching. Her patterns use the designer seam allowances of 3/8 or 1/4″ to reduce bulk normally cut away with 5/8″. ce's shirtcollar closeupThe contrast cotton fabric was a beautiful Thomas Mason shirting from Darrell Thomas Textiles. Lovely to work with.

Last week and this week we are sewing bags and I will be using a new ‘Hot Patterns” design in black and brown lambskin left over from my daughter’s purse posted last month. Still working on up cycling fabrics and recreating new looks with fabric manipulation so book a time and come play with fabrics. Studio is open most Wednesday and Thursday plus the occasional Saturday. Sew where it is cool Jo-Anne
